A BIOMECHANICAL MODEL FOR EVALUATION AND TREATMENT OF THE LUMBAR SPINE AND PELVIS

Course Description
This two-day seminar will focus on the evaluation and treatment of the lumbar spine and pelvis
utilizing an osteopathic biomechanical model. Emphasis will be placed on identifying specific areas
of somatic dysfunction in the thoracolumbar spine and pelvis. Treatment procedures will include
muscle energy technique, joint mobilization, and specific home exercises.

Course Objectives:
1. To review the functional anatomy and interrelationships of the lumbar spine and pelvis.
2. To understand an osteopathic biomechanical model for physiological and non-physiological
motion of the lumbar spine and pelvis.
3. To evaluate and identify specific somatic dysfunction in the lumbar spine and pelvis.
4. To learn the application of muscle energy techniques and direct mobilization techniques in
the treatment of lumbar and pelvic dysfunctions.
5. To learn specific self-mobilizing exercises for the lumbar spine and pelvis to complement
your manual therapy treatment.
